Change files to other file types that you can’t use
Popular viruses turn your document files or any files to executable files. Instead of seeing your usual folders and files everything has been changed to .exe files. It won’t open no matter how many times you click on the icon. This is a big problem on critical days such as a day before your project presentation or a day before your thesis defense. In reality, the virus has just turned your files into hidden files and made a fake executable file with the same filename. However not all people know this and will create problems.
Eats up your memory
Have you noticed working and suddenly your computer slows down? It eventually hangs up with no reason at all. Viruses could be culprits of this effect. They can actually replicate themselves real-time and you end up running many processes at the same time. These applications only use small memory but when hundreds and even thousands of these programs running together, your computer will surely run out of memory. The effect of course is a hang-up and is a big problem especially if are in the middle of something and hasn’t saved your work yet.
