Most of our kids today have access on the internet. It is not a surprise of course that they have different accounts in different social media websites. However, we still have to monitor the children’s use of social media so that they will be safe. We must make sure that they are using the privilege responsibly.
Advantages of using the social media
With the social media, the younger generation is able to connect with their friends and classmates at school. If they have difficulty in solving a problem in their assignment, they can just post a status and once there friends read the status, they will be able to be leave a tip on how to solve it. They are able to express how they are feeling right now. They will post if they feel happy when they have accomplished something and express their sadness when they will be leaving their home for a while.
Learn to use social media responsibly
However, social media can be abused by the younger generation when they are not monitored. You should remind your kids not to use social media to bully someone or to put someone in an awkward situation. They should not also post something that will destroy a person’s reputation. Social media should not be used to exact revenge because a lot of people can see it. They should post only clean, safe and inspiring messages rather than post videos of violence or bad words. You don’t have to monitor them all the time. A regular reminder would already be a big help
