Internet is the greatest channel for reference and information we have today, especially for kids in school. However, the Internet is also out of our control, which means trouble is lurking out there, and one wrong click is all it takes to take your kids and your computer to the wrong place, such as sites they shouldn’t be on.
Fortunately for us parents, there are many things we can do to stop the problem before it occurs. The best way to deal with this is to monitor your kids’ internet activities. Here are some tips to better monitor your children’s internet usage.
Put the computer where you can see it
Positioning the computer right inside your house is one of the easiest ways to monitor your kid’s computer use. If your computer is placed in a well-trafficked place, it will be harder for your kids to visit inappropriate sites.
Check History
At times when you’re not at home, kids will most often than not, feed their curiosity and click on those sites you prohibit them to visit. The browsing history can answer your dilemma. Now your kids may delete them, if they know how to. However, if you know the time they spend on the computer, you can check the gaps of time missing in the browsing history.
Install Monitoring or Parental Control Software
Installing software that can block inappropriate sites and keep your kids from accessing the history of the browser is another good way to stop the problem before it happens. There are tons of free software programs available for download out there. But if you want a complete security for your computer, you might just opt for paid software, as they’re fairly cheap and reasonably priced.
