Let’s face it, not everything that can be found in the web is good. As adults, we tend to be more logical and reasonable of what we read and see in the internet. But that goes differently for our kids.
There are actually a couple of things about the internet that you need to considering telling your kids about to keep them from harm.
Make your kids be aware of cyber-bullying. Presently, there have been actually many cyber-bullying cases that traumatized teenagers and some worst – caused those innocent teens to commit suicide. Help your kids understand that they should always be boundaries when they use the internet, especially in social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Advise your kids that whatever information that they put in the internet will be open to many people and that the internet is not that secured. Make them understand the value of privacy and the possible consequences when they go out of bounds. Inform them that they should always consider what they post on the internet, especially photos, videos, and other private information.
Establish rules to your kids when using the internet. Make it clear to them about the “dos and don’ts” and the time allotment in using the net. Make a conversation with them about internet addiction and the negative effects of it.
You can’t always watch over your kids for 24/7, so it’s better if you would make them be aware of the confidential stuffs and advise them of the right things to do. Often times, they accidentally bump into stuffs like gambling and pornography in the web. It’s best that you brief them about these things before they get they get the wrong idea about it.
