The greatest problem that teens encounter these days is the uncertainty of the trust their parents give them. Gaining their parents trust seems to be so difficult to achieve that when trust is given it becomes unbelievable for some teenagers.Sometimes they are suspicious of their parent’s motives for trusting them so they become cautious in their affairs.
Even if full trust and confidence is gained, teens will always keep some secrets no matter how big or how insignificant this maybe. For them secrets is a private space the more secrets they keep the larger their private space become. If the teen feels that he is not given his rights for space or privacy he creates his own space and restricts parents from entering.
It is therefore the role of the parents to see to it that their teenagers are not creating more and more private space and are not spending more time in seclusion in this private abode.
Social media is now the common place where teenagers keep a lot of their secrets. They create different persona and mingle with people they don’t know. Social media itself is not harmful but if you use for other intentions and purposes can lead to serious matters involving teenage abuse. If parents do not keep watch of their teenagers they might be molded to bizarre ideas that are harmful to themselves, to theirs families and even to the nation. That is why it is vital for parents to develop the closest and healthiest relationship with their teenagers.
