Bullying these days is no longer exclusive in schoolyards or streets, as technology paved the way for a new kind of bullying that inflicts the same pain and suffering to bullied children, or even worse, we call it cyberbullying.
Like its traditional form, cyberbullying causes so many distressing and devastating effects on any individual through, which may lead into humiliation and depression, and we’ve all heard the stories of children killing themselves to end their suffering from their bullies.
In most cases, cyberbullying can be more devastating than bullying in person, for these reasons:
Cyberbullying chooses no dates or time
Online bullies can launch their attacks anytime, anywhere, and the same effect will haunt its victims even when they’ve been staying comfortably inside their house. It seems like there are no escapes from bully’s harassments.
It can be done anonymously
Many bullies online don’t want people to know they’re bullies, thus, they do their thing anonymously. With this, children can easily get paranoid as they don’t know who’s threatening or harassing them, making them feel afraid of the world, even when attacks where all done online.
Since cyberbullies can hide their identities, it is so much easier for them to harass anyone. Also, since they can’t see the reaction of their victims, they are bound to do more obscure and hurtful things to satisfy their ego.
The bullying can be seen by everybody online
Unlike the real world where the bullying can only be witnessed by people around, the kind of humiliation a victim gets from cyberbullying can be more devastating and demoralizing. Obviosuly, there are more people online; the humiliation is on a higher extent as many people will witness it.
