You can talk with your distant relatives through Skype and Yahoo Messenger. The internet is really a useful tool when used properly but it can also be used for bad reasons.
There are many identity thefts happening because of the internet. Social security numbers, credit card data and personal information can be used by cybercriminals for illegal purchases and criminal activities. Even social networking websites are not spared from this malicious intent. There are those who interact with people in these sites and by the time they meet in person, they are robbed and sometimes raped. There are also people who use the internet as a blackmail tool. They blackmail people by threating them in posting compromising photographs which the public can see.
